The 28th Conference of the Parties (COP 28) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change delivered a resounding message that achieving net zero emissions by 2050, as stipulated in the 2015 Paris Agreement, would require substantial and comprehensive adjustments. The primary objective of the Paris Agreement in 2015 was to curtail global warming to within +2°C above pre-industrial levels, with an even more ambitious target of limiting it to +1.5°C. Such measures were deemed necessary to mitigate the potentially catastrophic consequences of climate change. Today, it appears that these dire consequences are becoming increasingly evident.
