HCMC – Vietnam Samho Co., Ltd in HCMC’s Cu Chi District has asked 3,500 of its 10,000 workers to temporarily stay away from work, after three suspected cases of Covid-19 were detected at the firm at the same time.
The local health workers this morning, June 11, conducted test-and-trace works for over 3,500 workers at three of the firm’s workshops where the suspected cases are employed, reported VnExpress.
These three cases, all residing in the district’s Tan Thanh Dong Commune, tested positive for the coronavirus two days ago and were linked to an infection cluster in the commune. They and 84 people who were in close contact with them were taken to a concentrated quarantine center.
The company suspended the operation of one workshop on June 9 and that of two others yesterday.
The company also disinfected affected areas, asked its workers to strictly comply with anti-virus regulations and took Covid-19 response measures. By this morning, the firm’s block A, where the suspected cases were found, was put under lockdown, while other facilities continued to operate as normal.
Vietnam Samho Company is a South Korean business that manufactures sports shoes. It is among the biggest employers in this outlying district.
Earlier, factories and workshops in the city’s industrial zones and export processing zones had reported six suspected cases. Among them, Pouyuen Vietnam Company, which employs over 56,000 workers, discovered one case on June 8.
