CSR activities are essential to T&T Group

Throughout its development history of more than 30 years, T&T Group has steadfastly adhered to the business philosophy: “Developing business alongside social responsibility.” This community-focused spirit has been pursued by Mr. Do Quang Hien, the founder and chairman of the Council of Strategy, since the group’s establishment, making community activities an indispensable part of the corporation.

T&T Group is known as a multi-sector private economic group that actively contributes to Vietnam’s socio-economic development, and also one of the pioneers in charitable activities and social responsibility across the country. Every year, T&T Group allocates hundreds of billions of Vietnamese dong to build houses for the poor and award scholarships to students alongside other community activities.

Housing for the poor

Supporting housing for the poor has been a major community program at T&T Group for long years. At the 10th-anniversary celebration of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in Dien Bien Province held on May 9 in Dien Bien Phu City, T&T Group handed over a sign indicating a donation of VND5 billion (equivalent to 100 houses) to support Dien Bien’s Great Solidarity House program. During the event, T&T Group also symbolically handed over keys to some households receiving the support.

In fact, this sponsorship was already transferred at the end of 2023 to Dien Bien to finance this housing program to ensure that construction was completed on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory (May 7, 2024).

It is known that Dien Bien Province has launched a project to build 5,000 Great Solidarity Houses for poor and near-poor households in the area, gradually realizing the goal of replacing all unsafe houses in the province.

Dien Bien, a mountainous province in the northwest, has a population of over 640,000 people belonging to 19 ethnic groups, with ethnic minority people making up over 80% of its population. The province has a poverty rate of nearly 26%. According to a survey, as of March 31, 2023, there were over 7,000 poor households living in makeshift or damaged houses needing new construction or repair support.

Given this reality, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, in coordination with Dien Bien Province and relevant agencies, has launched a project to mobilize support for building Great Solidarity Houses for the poor in Dien Bien.

By participating in this project, T&T Group expects this support will motivate families to improve their lives and strive to escape poverty.

From the support of sponsors and philanthropists, including T&T Group, 5,000 new houses were completed and handed over to residents after nine months of implementation. The total cost of building these houses was over VND489 billion, with VND250 billion from donors and the remainder from households through cash, materials, and labor contributions.

In March 2022, the family of Chairman Do Quang Hien along with businesses in its ecosystem donated VND20 billion to Dien Bien Province to help eliminate makeshift houses for the poor. In addition to Dien Bien, T&T Group has also allocated significant funds to develop houses for the poor in other provinces such as Ha Giang, Cao Bang and Daklak.

Scholarships for students

Providing financial support and awarding scholarships to students is another activity that T&T Group regularly implements. Most recently, on April 25, 2024, T&T Group leaders awarded 20 scholarships along with sports equipment to students at the Academy of Policy and Development.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Tat Thang, chairman of the Board of Directors of T&T Group, said that supporting education, training human resources, and awarding scholarships to university students is a priority for T&T Group.

“T&T Group wishes to contribute to improving the quality of the nation’s human resources. These scholarships are hoped to motivate Policy and Development Academy students to pursue their passions and prepare for their future careers,” Thang said.

Earlier, on March 22, at the Vietnam Social Work Day celebration organized by the Hanoi Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, T&T Group donated VND2 billion to the Hanoi Social Work Center and Child Protection Fund. This funding will be used to award scholarships, give bicycles, and present gifts to hundreds of children in Hanoi and other localities across the country, sharing difficulties and helping them have a more stable life.

In 2023, T&T Group also donated VND2 billion to the Hanoi Social Work Center and Child Protection Fund to implement various support programs such as giving gifts to disadvantaged children in Dien Bien, Ha Giang, Nghe An, and Quang Tri provinces; awarding scholarships to poor children during the Children’s Month campaign; and awarding scholarships and bicycles to disadvantaged children in the “Mid-Autumn Festival Night” program. In 2023, T&T Group also donated VND5 billion to an education fund in Ha Tinh Province.

T&T Group’s contributions not only help children have a more stable life but also help them pursue their dreams. The company believes that alongside state support, the cooperation of the business community is also crucial.
