Must read

HCMC – The Ministry of Health this evening, May 18, confirmed 1,831 new Covid cases, with all but one of them locally infected, up by 45 against yesterday.

Hanoi City came first with 403 cases, followed by Vinh Phuc with 139 and Phu Tho with 125. Other provinces had lower than 100 cases each.

More than 8,400 Covid patients were declared free of the disease today, while one Covid death was confirmed in Hanoi.

As new daily infections in Hanoi have been declined and most of the cases have been receiving home-based treatment, the city has decided to dissolve 13 treatment facilities for Covid cases with no or mild symptoms. The 13 facilities are in Hoang Mai, Ha Dong, Long Bien, Hai Ba Trung, Tay Ho and Cau Giay districts.

After these facilities are closed, critical cases and those with underlying illnesses will be treated at the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases, the Covid Treatment Hospital in Hoang Mai District as well as Thanh Nhan and Duc Giang hospitals.

Over the past week, the city’s new daily cases have fallen to below 500. Moreover, over 87,000 cases are being treated at home and the number of critical cases has tumbled. Since April 19, the city has recorded no Covid deaths.
