Eight more patients recover from Covid-19

HCMC – Eight more patients in Vietnam have recovered from Covid-19 and been released, the Central Hospital for Tropical Diseases announced today, May 11.

To date, 249 out of 288 Covid-19 cases in the country have recovered, equivalent to 86%, and no fatalities have been reported, according to the Vietnam News Agency.

Four of the newly recovered patients are from Ha Loi Village, Me Linh District, Hanoi, which was once a virus hotspot. They are the 250th case, a 50-year-old woman who had close contact with the 243rd case and tested positive for the coronavirus on April 7; the 254th case, a 51-year-old man who had close contact with the 243rd and 250th cases and tested positive for the virus on April 9; the 259th case, a 41-year-old woman who is the wife of the 254th case and tested positive for the virus on April 11; and the 262nd case, a 26-year-old male worker at Samsung Electronics Vietnam Company in Bac Ninh Province who had close contact with the 254th case and tested positive for the virus on April 12.

The other four recoveries—the 178th, 218th, 256th and 269th cases—are from other northern provinces.

The 178th case is a 44-year-old woman who resides in Thai Nguyen Province and worked for Truong Sinh Company, which provided catering services for the Hanoi-based Bach Mai Hospital, one of the coronavirus clusters in the capital city.

The 218th case is a 43-year-old woman living in Thai Nguyen Province. She returned to Vietnam from Germany on Flight SU290 on March 25 and was quarantined and treated at the Central Hospital for Tropical Diseases in Hanoi.

The 256th case is a 52-year-old man residing in Hung Yen Province. He returned to Vietnam from Russia on March 27 and was transported to Vinh Phuc Province for quarantine on arrival at Noi Bai International Airport. He was then taken to the Central Hospital for Tropical Diseases for treatment after testing positive for the coronavirus,

The 269th case is a 23-year-old man living in Viet Yen District, Bac Giang Province. He returned to Vietnam from Japan on April 21 and was transported to Thai Binh Province for quarantine on arrival at Van Don International Airport.

These cases no longer present Covid-19 symptoms of fever, coughing or shortness of breath and will continue to be monitored under quarantine over the next 14 days to ensure safety and their full recovery.
