Enterprises urged to advance during EVFTA execution: PM

Must read

HCMC – Urging ministries, agencies and localities to be more proactive while executing the tasks specified in the Government’s action plan, during a web conference on August 6, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc asked enterprises operating in Vietnam to keep making headway and innovating to align their business growth with global standards to be able to smoothly execute the European Union-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA).

National interests must be given priority, with enterprises, ministries and agencies having to work harder to avoid economic disruption, he noted.

The Government leader imposed these requirements on enterprises, ministries and agencies so they can work out solutions to six groups of questions he had earlier raised at the meeting, which saw the introduction of a plan to roll out the EVFTA.

He demanded solutions to ineffective media campaigns over international economic integration and for raising the awareness of the enterprise community, local residents and even those in State management agencies over the issue.

He also sought to know what the Government, businesses and locals should do to better leverage the opportunities brought about by FTAs, as they did not properly take advantage of the opportunities due to obstacles in policies or companies refusing to change their business mindset to grow further, he added.

Moreover, the Cabinet leader asked for measures to develop high-quality manpower for enterprises as the issue is a matter of life and death in business.

The prime minister also sought solutions for developing infrastructure facilities, achieving sustainable development and making Vietnamese products more competitive in the European Union market when the pact takes effect.
