HCMC – After nearly seven months of conducting the Saigon Times CSR 2021, The Saigon Times Group on December 17 held a ceremony to recognize and honor enterprises with practical and effective corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities, which have contributed to the successful and sustainable development of the community.

The Saigon Times CSR 2021 Merit Ceremony was organized at the Rex Saigon Hotel in District 1, HCMC, and attended by nearly 150 guests, including representatives of enterprises that received the honor, foreign diplomats and business partners.

Over the past few years, enterprises have been attaching more importance to CSR as the growth of the community and the sustainable development of the country are not only their responsibility but also benefit them.

CSR has also been considered an important indicator to assess the success of an enterprise, in addition to financial indicators, such as revenue and profit.

Therefore, more and more enterprises in Vietnam have integrated CSR activities into their business development strategies.

This year, the Covid-19 pandemic has been affecting most of the socioeconomic aspects, and enterprises have swiftly responded to the challenges by opening their coffers wide to accompany the Government and the community in the fight against the pandemic.

Furthermore, the enterprises’ community spirit has continued to shine in other aspects, from environmental protection and education sponsorship to financial support for victims of natural disasters and the fishing rod given to the poor and the disadvantaged.

Enterprises understand that they must unite and support the underprivileged to go further and develop more sustainably.

Launched in 2019 by The Saigon Times, an English news website of The Saigon Times Group, the Saigon Times CSR program has built its brand name among enterprises and contributed to promoting the CSR endeavor for the community’s betterment.

The program is expected to annually recognize and honor enterprises that consider the voluntary endeavor of CSR activities as part of their responsibility.

In his opening remarks at the ceremony, Tran Minh Hung, editor-in-chief of the Saigon Times Group, said, “The Saigon Times CSR program this year is taking place at a time when the fourth wave of Covid-19 is confronting countless businesses with multiple difficulties and challenges. In such a tough situation, many companies have displayed an unwavering sense of CSR, with their CSR initiatives even stronger by scale and form than ever.”

He expected enterprises would continue joining hands with the media group to successfully conduct the Saigon Times CSR 2022 program which is intended to promptly recognize and honor enterprises that make meaningful and worthwhile contributions to society and the community.

According to Pham Huu Chuong, deputy editor-in-chief of the Saigon Times Group and head of the organizer of the Saigon Times CSR program, at a time when the Covid-19 pandemic is leaving a heavy impact on the economy, the participating businesses have spared no effort to proactively execute their CSR programs.

During the pandemic, the spirit of CSR has been clearly reflected in what they have done. They have spent a lot of money and resources on their CSR programs and joined hands with the Government and the community to cope with these challenges.

“One of the most important things of this year’s CSR spirit is that alongside community support, businesses have lent a helping hand to their employees and even their families. Businesses now regard sustainable development as a long-term strategy, not a short-term one,” Chuong added.

The ceremony also included a seminar, “CSR and sustainable development: To go far, go together”.
