HCMC – Nguyen Anh Tuan, chairman of EVNHANOI, a subsidiary of Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN), has been picked as general director of EVN for a five-year term, replacing Tran Dinh Nhan.
The appointment decision was signed by the chairman of the BOD of EVN, with effect from today, December 1.
The Commission for Management of State Capital at Enterprises (CMSC) also issued a decision appointing Tuan as a member of EVN’s Member Council for a five-year term, commencing on December 1.
Tuan, aged 56, holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and a master’s degree in business administration. With a career spanning over three decades in the electricity industry, Tuan has held various significant positions, including head of the planning department, deputy general director, general director, and chairman of EVNHANOI.
The restructuring of EVN’s leadership comes in the wake of certain former leaders facing disciplinary actions due to their accountability for electricity supply problems, which resulted in power outages in the northern region in May and June 2023.
Previously, CMSC sought input from relevant authorities regarding the reassignment of duties or granting leave to Tran Dinh Nhan based on his personal request. Consequently, Nhan retired on December 1 after serving as EVN’s general director for nearly five years.
