HCMC – The first 28 tourists took helicopter tours and saw HCMC from the sky this morning, April 29.
Between April 29 and 30, four helicopter tours were scheduled to be launched in the southern city, with the participation of 60 tourists.
Today, 16 passengers boarded a helicopter departing from the Tan Son Nhat International Airport and 12 others were transported on another one taking off at the 175 Military Hospital to experience the helicopter rides.
Sightseeing tours by helicopter is a newly-launched tourism product for international guests and local tourists as well.
HCMC focuses on the development of travel products of added value, including the helicopter tour program. The city will increase the frequency of helicopter rides for locals, said Le Truong Hien Hoa, deputy director of the municipal Department of Tourism.
According to Nguyen Minh Man, communications-marketing director at TST Tourist, the newly-launched helicopter tours are expected to serve the peak travel seasons on Reunification Day (April 30 ) and International Labor Day (May 1) and the upcoming summer.
“This is my first time traveling on a helicopter. Maybe it is the most unique experience I’ve ever tried. I think VND4 million for a sightseeing helicopter tour is reasonable and worth a try,” said Le Quang Tu, a visitor in HCMC’s District 1, reported Lao Dong newspaper.
A 40-minute helicopter tour will allow tourists to view many popular destinations and iconic buildings in HCMC from the sky, such as the Saigon River, the Landmark 81 skyscraper, the Phu My and Thu Thiem bridges, among many others.
