Five missing after fishing boat sinks off Quang Tri

HCMC – A fishing boat sank off the coast of Quang Tri Province on November 30, leaving five crew members at large.

The sunken boat, NA 93553 TS, had six sailors on board, including Thai Ba Huy residing in Son Hai Commune in Nghe An Province as the captain.

Cao Xuan Diep, chairman of Son Hai Commune in Nghe An Province’s Quynh Luu District, said today, December 1, that the commune had been informed of the sinking.

The fishing boat set sail to catch seafood on November 23, and at 10.00 a.m. on November 30, sank.

Among the six sailors, one identified as Tran Van Huy was rescued by a Quang Ngai Province-registered fishing boat, while five others went missing, comprising Thai Ba Tinh, Tran Van Hoi, Tran Van Nghia, Thai Ba Huy and Thai Ba Hoa, aged between 18 and 69, the local media reported.

The border guards of Nghe An and Quang Tri provinces are collaborating with some fishing boats operating near the area to search for the missing persons.
