HCMC — As Vietnamese air carriers operating flights to Europe have been avoiding flying through the airspace of Ukraine and Belarus due to the Russia-Ukraine conflict, their flights to Europe have not been affected by Ukraine closing its airspace, an official said.

Dinh Viet Thang, head of the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, said Vietnam Airlines is the lone airline currently operating flights to Russia’s Moscow. However, the airline has drawn up a plan to fly through the airspaces of Russia and western Europe, the local media reported.

Dang Anh Tuan, head of communications at Vietnam Airlines, said that the airline has kept flights from entering the airspaces of Ukraine and Belarus, so its flights to Europe have not been affected.

Similarly, a representative of Bamboo Airways said that the airline on February 25 launched nonstop flights between Vietnam’s Hanoi City and Germany’s Frankfurt City. However, its Hanoi-Frankfurt air route has been operated as usual.

Meanwhile, Vietjet has yet to reopen air routes to Europe.
