Former Danang official detained for allegedly receiving bribes

HCMC – Danang investigators have pressed charges against Dam Quang Hung, former chairman of Lien Chieu District in Danang, for allegedly accepting bribes, Vu Xuan Vien, director of the municipal Police Department, confirmed yesterday, May 30.

Hung, who is also former vice secretary of both the district’s Party Committee and the Danang Hi-tech Parks and Industrial Zones Authority’s Party Committee, will be kept in police custody for four months.

On May 11, the municipal Party Committee’s Standing Board convened a meeting to impose disciplinary measures on Hung.

The Danang Party Committee’s Standing Board said that Hung, while serving as vice secretary of the district’s Party Committee, chairman of the district government, had violated the Party’s rules. He had also violated regulations stipulated for State employees and Party members holding key posts and the Law on Corruption Prevention and Control.

According to the Standing Board, Hung’s violations are serious and damage the prestige of Party organizations.

Based on the scope and degree of his violations and the Party’s regulations, the municipal Party Committee’s Standing Board decided to strip Hung of all his Party posts.
