HCMC – The bodies of four military personnel who were among 22 military officers and soldiers being buried in landslides in central Quang Tri Province had been recovered as of 11:30 a.m. today, October 18, reported VnExpress news site.
Earlier, mountain landslides had buried at least 22 people of the Army Economic Group 337, under the Military Region 4, in Huong Phung Commune, Huong Hoa District, confirmed Ha Si Dong, vice chairman of the province, this morning.
A working team including the province’s top officials and over 100 military officers and soldiers had been sent to the district to carry out the search and rescue works. However, serious landslides happened at around 8:10 a.m. in the day when the team was some two kilometers away from the scene of the incident. Numerous vehicles were mobilized to handle soil and rocks so the team could approach the scene.
Some members of the team managed to walk through the landslide site to move to the scene. The rescue efforts were challenging as further flashfloods could happen any time.
