HCMC – Four major infrastructure projects that could help reduce congestion at the gateways of HCMC were opened to traffic this morning, December 30.

The projects include Phuoc Long Bridge, the HC1 tunnel at the Nguyen Van Linh-Nguyen Huu Tho intersection, the parallel road along National Highway 50, and Tan Ky Tan Quy Street.

Phuoc Long Bridge connects District 7 and Nha Be District. With a total investment of VND737 billion, the bridge is 359 meters long and 10.5 meters wide, featuring a road system at both ends that stretches a total of 430 meters.

Construction began in February 2020 but was paused for over two years due to land clearance issues. Work resumed in November 2023 and was completed after 13 months.

The HC1 tunnel branch, part of the Nguyen Van Linh-Nguyen Huu Tho intersection project in District 7, also opened to traffic. With a total investment of VND830 billion, the project includes two parallel tunnels on Nguyen Van Linh Street, each about 456 meters long and designed to accommodate six lanes.

A two-kilometer section of road parallel to National Highway 50, part of the larger National Highway 50 upgrade and expansion project, was also opened.

The VND1,498-billion project has six lanes and a total length of 6.92 kilometers. This consists of a 4.36-kilometer parallel road and a 2.56-kilometer expansion of the existing highway. Currently, the project is 62% complete, with the four construction packages for the parallel road achieving about 80%.

The Tan Ky Tan Quy Street upgrade and expansion project in Binh Tan District was completed and put into use today at a total cost of VND1,232 billion. The project is 1,980 meters long and 30 meters wide, starting from Binh Long Street and ending at Ma Lo Street. Construction began in March 2023.

The expanded Tan Ky Tan Quy Street, along with the upcoming Tan Ky Tan Quy Bridge, expected to open on January 20, 2025, will form a vital connection between National Highway 1, the city center, the southwestern region, and Tan Son Nhat International Airport.
