HCMC – Garmin Pay, the contactless payment platform that enables users to make purchases using their Garmin smartwatches, has been introduced in Vietnam through a partnership with VPBank.

This innovative payment solution is compatible with Android and iOS devices and currently supported on 22 different models of Garmin smartwatches, available in 94 countries and territories.

To utilize Garmin Pay, Vietnamese users need to link their bank card to the Garmin Pay app on their smartphone. Once their card is successfully added, they can simply tap their smartwatch near a card reader to complete a transaction.

Garmin Pay prioritizes the security of users’ data by employing tokenization, a process that replaces sensitive information such as credit card numbers with randomly generated codes.

Launched in 2017, Garmin Pay arrives in Vietnam at a time when contactless payment adoption is rapidly increasing in the country.

Garmin aims to establish itself as a leading brand in supporting contactless payments for smartwatches and intends to expand its payment solution through partnerships with other banks in Vietnam.
