HCMC – PetroVietnam Gas Joint Stock Corporation (HOSE: GAS) and PetroVietnam Power Corporation (HOSE: POW) have signed a contract to supply liquefied natural gas (LNG) for test operations at Nhon Trach 3 and 4 power plants.
The deal is part of Vietnam’s push to expand LNG use in energy production to meet the Government’s commitments to emissions reduction.
POW is developing several large LNG-powered projects, including Nhon Trach 3 and 4, and is transitioning some gas-fired plants to LNG. GAS will provide imported LNG to replace dwindling natural gas supplies in the southern region, which are decreasing by one billion cubic meters annually.
The first LNG shipment for Nhon Trach 3 and 4 is expected to support trial operations and ensure timely project progress, contributing to energy security in southern Vietnam.
Closing the trading session today, POW edged down by 0.8% to VND12,450 per share while GAS remained flat, at VND69,300.
