HCMC – SCHOTT AG, a Mainz-based glass manufacturer, has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Vietnam Directorate of Market Surveillance on anti-counterfeiting cooperation and intellectual property (IP) protection in Vietnam.
The German company will provide Vietnamese officials with technical support in combating fake and IP infringing products, particularly through technical workshops and training sessions.
The partnership is set to protect local consumers unaware of buying low-quality and non-genuine products.
Tran Huu Linh, director general of the Vietnam Directorate of Market Surveillance, said the partnership between the agency and major brand owners, including SCHOTT AG, would help crack down on unscrupulous vendors selling fake products.
This is a significant step in strengthening the Vietnam-Germany cooperation and the two countries could jointly create a fair and transparent market that is mutually beneficial, according to Simon Kreye, a representative from the German Embassy in Hanoi.
SCHOTT AG is committed to working closely with local authorities to combat fake products, as well as addressing health and safety risks that may harm Vietnamese consumers.
