Gold prices rise further

HCMC – Local gold prices continued inching up today, April 9, reaching an all-time high of over VND84.7 million per tael.

Both gold bar and gold ring prices surged to new records this afternoon.

Saigon Jewelry Company (SJC) in HCMC quoted its gold bars at VND82.1 million per tael for buying and at VND84.1 million for selling at 2:30 p.m., an increase of VND200,000 per tael compared to just 30 minutes prior.

By 3 p.m., SJC further raised its gold bar prices to VND82.4 million and VND84.4 million for buying and selling, respectively. A tael is equivalent to 37.5 grams or 1.2 troy ounces.

Just 15 minutes later, the jewelry firm revised its gold prices upward by another VND400,000 per tael to VND82.7 million and VND84.7 million for buying and selling, respectively.

Doji, a jewelry firm in Hanoi, listed its gold bar prices at VND80.5 million and VND84 million per tael, while Bao Tin Minh Chau in Hanoi set its prices at VND82-84.2 million. Gold dealers maintained a price difference between buying and selling at around VND2-3 million per tael.

Gold ring prices also surged to a new high of over VND77 million per tael.

At 2:30 p.m., Bao Tin Minh Chau bought gold rings at VND75.5 million per tael and sold them at VND77 million per tael, up by nearly VND1.5 million versus yesterday.

At DOJI, gold ring prices were capped at VND75.55 million for buying and VND77.25 million for selling, while SCJ revised its prices to VND73.7 million and VND75.1 million per tael.
