HCMC – Vietnam Airlines held a ceremony on the evening of May 9 (local time) to announce the launch of a direct air service between Hanoi and Moscow, under the witness of Party General Secretary To Lam.

The new air route is expected to strengthen comprehensive cooperation between the two countries.

Vietnam Airlines operates the Hanoi–Moscow service twice a week, on Tuesdays and Thursdays, using wide-body Boeing 787 aircraft. The airline plans to increase the frequency to three flights per week starting July 2026.

Earlier, on May 8, the inaugural flight VN63 departed from Noi Bai International Airport and landed safely at Sheremetyevo International Airport in Moscow with 254 passengers on board, achieving a 100% seat occupancy rate.

Flight VN62 is set to carry 86 Vietnamese officials and military personnel who took part in the military parade marking the 80th anniversary of Victory Day at Red Square from Moscow to Hanoi on the morning of May 10.
