Hanoi primary-school students in outlying districts to return to school after Tet

HCMC – The Hanoi City government has sent an urgent dispatch allowing students at primary schools and sixth graders in the city’s 18 outlying districts and towns to get back to in-person classes from February 10, after the Lunar New Year holiday, or Tet.

The decision was made following the municipal Education and Training Department’s proposal, the local media reported.

Students in grades from one to six in areas at low or moderate risk of Covid transmission in the outlying districts and towns will return to school, while others in the same grades in the city’s urban districts will continue to study online at home, according to the dispatch issued on February 5.

The city’s grassroots authorities will be in charge of deciding the returning of these students based on the Covid situation and Covid spread risk levels.

After the reopening, schools must comply with Covid safety measures and let teachers who have got just one Covid vaccine dose teach online at home.

In addition, schools must not offer day-boarding services nor open canteens to prevent the potential spread of the coronavirus.

In Hanoi City, only nine communes and wards remain at high risk of Covid transmission, while the rest are at low or moderate risk.

Earlier on January 24, the Hanoi government approved a plan allowing students in grades from 7 to 12 in areas at low or moderate risk of Covid spread to return to school from February 8.
