HCMC – The Government has approved the procurement of 21.9 million doses of the Pfizer Covid vaccine for children aged between five and 11.

The Government also agreed to choose contractors for the vaccine purchase as required by the Law on Bidding.

The Ministry of Health is responsible for the purchase and administering of the Pfizer vaccine to children aged between five and 11.

Earlier, the Ministry of Health had proposed the Government purchase 21.9 million doses of the Pfizer vaccine for children aged from five to 11.

The vaccine will be administered on a voluntary basis but the healthcare sector has encouraged parents to allow their children to get vaccinated.

As of February 5, more than 182 million Covid-19 vaccine doses have been administered to residents.

Localities nationwide have been conducting a Covid vaccination campaign in the spring this year with an aim to complete administering the third shot to eligible residents at the earliest possible time to fully reopen the economy.
