Hanoi sees tourist arrivals in H1 up threefold y-o-y

HCMC – In the year to June this year, the capital city of Hanoi had welcomed 8.61 million visitors, rising almost threefold from the same period last year, according to data from the municipal tourism authority.

Of them, the number of domestic tourists totaled 8.4 million and international visitors accounted for the rest.

The city’s tourism revenue in the first half rose over threefold versus the year-ago figure to reach VND25.2 trillion.

Despite being plagued by the Covid pandemic, the capital city’s tourism sector achieved optimistic results, with an increasing number of visitors to the city.

To woo more tourists, the city’s tourism sector has launched multiple events and asked popular destinations across the city to continue to improve their product and service quality.

Director of the Hanoi Tourism Department Dang Huong Giang said the municipal tourism sector will direct travel agencies to design more attractive travel products, focusing on the city’s strengths such as culture, experience, sports, and Meeting, Incentive, Conference, Event tourism.

The city will also pay attention to developing agro-tourism by building a number of tourism farms and craft villages on a trial basis in outlying districts such as Thach That and My Duc.

Hanoi is also encouraging the launch of new, unique travel products associated with the strengths of each locality, such as adventure travel products and hot air balloon services in Ba Vi and paragliding tours in Chuong My.
