HCMC – Hanoi City plans to transition completely to cashless payments for electricity and water bills by the end of this year.
The plan, issued by the Hanoi People’s Committee, outlines various measures to promote the widespread adoption of e-commerce among businesses and households.
On online platforms, Hanoi aims to expand the market for key industrial, traditional craft, and agricultural products, while also accelerating the digital transformation of small and medium-sized enterprises.
Key objectives for 2024 also include maintaining a ranking of either second or higher nationwide in the annual e-commerce business index (EBI), and increasing the proportion of Hanoi’s population doing online shopping to 53%.
The city government also aims to ensure that 69% of online transactions have electronic invoices and maintain 100% participation of safe agricultural and food supply chains in the electronic system using QR codes for traceability.
