HCMC – The Mekong Delta province of Hau Giang will be holding an international rice festival from December 11 to 15, with more than 39 countries attending.

The Vietnam-Hau Giang Rice Industry Festival 2023 is aimed at advancing the production of high-quality rice and sustainable growth, and providing businesses and farmers with opportunities to access new production knowledge and technologies.

Dong Van Thanh, chairman of Hau Giang People’s Committee, announced during a press conference today, December 1, that this year’s festival would be held under the theme “Green Rice for Life” and would be of a larger scale than in previous years.

This marks the first time that the Vietnam-Hau Giang Rice Industry Festival, initiated in 2009, has expanded into an international-level event. Numerous agreements between ministries and businesses are expected to be signed at the event.

During the event, Vietnam will sign an agreement with the World Bank to support farmers to develop one million hectares under low-emission, high-quality rice cultivation.

The festival will also feature a wide range of activities, including seminars, conferences, and technology demonstrations. Hundreds of booths will showcase products under the One Commune One Product (OCOP) program, and culinary delights made from rice, along with the introduction of various types of machines and drones serving rice production.
