HCMC is the first locality in the country to administer the booster shot, the local media reported.

At the medical center of Go Vap District, 250 people suffering from immunodeficiency, specifically HIV patients, received the booster shots, said doctor Thach Thi Ca, head of the medical center’s HIV/AIDS-community support ward.

The medical center will administer the booster shots three days per week.

At the campus of the Industrial University of HCMC, medical workers and police officers received the booster shots in the morning, while military officers got their shots in the afternoon.

From December 13, Go Vap District will administer the booster shots to residents 50 and older at seven vaccination sites. Some 10,000 people are expected to get vaccinated per day.

Go Vap District planned to administer the booster shorts to 110,000 people in this vaccination drive, including nearly 2,000 people suffering from immunodeficiency, 2,000 frontline workers and 6,000 people aged 50 and above.
