HCMC – All health workers at hospitals in HCMC have had their samples taken for Covid-19 testing, according to the city’s Department of Health.

The department said on May 16 that as of 4 p.m. on the day, more than 75,200 samples had been taken, including nearly 47,700 samples from medical workers, 16,000 samples from patients and 7,620 from caregivers at 100 hospitals, the local media reported.

These hospitals will continue taking the samples of new patients from departments with a high risk of Covid-19 infection. The employees of these departments will also have their samples taken periodically for Covid-19 testing.

Among the 75,200 samples, the results of nearly 45,000 were negative, while those of the remainder have yet to be worked out.

The HCMC Department of Health on May 12 asked all hospitals in the city to urgently collect samples from all employees, patients and caregivers for Covid-19 testing.

The order came after a patient visited the HCMC Oncology Hospital and declined to say he had visited the Hanoi-based K Hospital, which is currently one of the country’s Covid-19 hotspots, for nasopharynx cancer treatment.
