HCMC – Three Covid treatment facilities for patients with mild symptoms are nearing completion and will be put into service at industrial zones in HCMC.

Le Bich Loan, deputy head of the Saigon Hi-tech Park (SHTP) management board, said on November 3 that the first facility set up at SHTP would begin operations this weekend. It was equipped with TVs, washing machines, a sports area and more to help create favorable conditions for Covid patients. All of the equipment and operating costs are funded by enterprises at SHTP along with a medical unit.

The second facility is located at the Linh Trung 2 Export Processing Zone in HCMC’s Thu Duc City, with 250 beds. The renovation of and the installation of equipment for the facility has been completed.

The third one with 250-300 beds will be at the Dong Nam Industrial Zone in the outlying district of Cu Chi. The industrial zone’s developer and Worldon Co. Ltd., which operates at the Dong Nam Industrial Zone, had agreed to set up this facility, reported VnExpress.

According to the HCMC Export Processing and Industrial Zones Authority, it is surveying other industrial zones in the city that meet requirements to set up Covid treatment facilities and suggest them to the municipal government. The establishment of Covid treatment facilities is expected to help businesses operating in export processing and industrial zones proactively cope with and treat Covid cases and avoid production chain disruptions.

One month after the city resumed production in the new normal, plants at industrial zones citywide have still reported new Covid cases, at 50 daily cases on average. Most of the cases were asymptomatic or showed mild symptoms as they had received full vaccination, thus leaving little impact on production activities.

Loan said Covid patients with mild symptoms also need to be quarantined according to the prevailing regulations. However, as some boarding houses for workers do not meet quarantine requirements, the establishment of Covid treatment facilities in industrial zones is essential.
