HCMC has new vice chairman

HCMC – Bui Xuan Cuong, head of the HCMC Management Authority for Urban Railways (MAUR), has been elected as vice chairman of the HCMC People’s Committee.

His election took place at a HCMC People’s Council meeting this morning, October 11.

The newly-elected vice chairman had worked for a long time at the city’s Department of Transport. He took up the post of deputy director of this department in 2009.

In August 2014, Cuong was picked as head of MAUR and held this post until August 2015. By the end of August 2015, he became director of the Transport Department.

In January 2019, the municipal government appointed him as MAUR head again.

In a speech delivered after his election today, Cuong said he would focus on the implementation of 13 subprojects under the city’s program to achieve breakthrough infrastructure development, six urban-related targets outlined in a resolution of the municipal Party Congress in the 2020-2025 period.

He pledged to address shortcomings concerning urban management and development, and take measures to attract non-State investments in the urban sector.

The chairman of the HCMC People’s Committee, the city government, is Phan Van Mai and he has five deputies, namely Phan Thi Thang, Ngo Minh Chau, Vo Van Hoan, Duong Anh Duc, and Bui Xuan Cuong.
