HCMC – Flood tides in HCMC are forecast to peak this afternoon, November 6, with some areas seeing water levels as high as 1.9 meters, surpassing the third-level flood warning.

According to the Southern Hydrometeorological Station, water levels in the Saigon River and nearby canals have risen rapidly over the past 24 hours, with readings exceeding the level-three warning by 0.17 to 0.28 meter at most monitoring stations.

The tide is expected to continue rising slowly until November 7 before gradually receding from November 8 onward. Peak flood tides this period are likely to surpass those recorded in early September, with the highest levels observed between 4-6 a.m. and 5-7 p.m. today and tomorrow.

At Phu An and Nha Be stations, water levels have reached between 1.77 and 1.80 meters, while in Thu Dau Mot, levels are at 1.88 to 1.90 meters. Flooding has been reported on several streets, including Tran Xuan Soan, Nguyen Luong Bang, and Huynh Tan Phat, making travel difficult for commuters.

Authorities have warned of level-2 disaster risks in the lower Saigon River basin. Residents are advised to remain vigilant, as high tides combined with heavy rainfall could lead to severe flooding in low-lying and riverside areas, disrupting traffic and daily economic activities.
