HCMC – The government of HCMC has decided to set up two task forces in charge of purchasing and managing the use of Covid-19 vaccines.
The first task force will represent the municipal government to seek and negotiate with reputable Covid-19 vaccine suppliers. Duong Anh Duc, vice chairman of the municipal government, will be the leader of the task force.
Also, To Thi Bich Chau, chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee in HCMC, will act as deputy head of the task force, while Nguyen Hoai Nam, deputy director of the HCMC Department of Health, will serve as standing deputy head.
After negotiations, the first task force will recommend the suppliers to local competent agencies to import the vaccines. The task force will also suggest to the municipal government ways to negotiate over reasonable vaccine prices and payment methods, reported Phap Luat newspaper.
The second task force in charge of distributing the vaccines and organizing vaccination programs in the city has to suggest groups of people eligible for the vaccination in order of precedence to the city’s government. These groups will be distinct from the priority groups for free Covid-19 vaccination.
Earlier, the prime minister had given a green light to HCMC to seek and import Covid-19 vaccines.
