HCMC suspends all Covid checkpoints at its gateways

HCMC – The HCMC government has approved a plan to suspend the operations of all Covid-19 checkpoints at the city’s gateways starting 6 p.m. today, October 26.

The HCMC People’s Committee Office this afternoon announced the decision signed by vice chairman Ngo Minh Chau to suspend all the Covid checkpoints earlier set up on the roads leading to the city, reported the local media.

The vice chairman asked the municipal Police Department to coordinate with the relevant agencies to continue to conduct mobile patrols to monitor and tackle violators of anti-Covid regulations at coach stations, train stations, and freight transport routes.

Besides, he tasked the HCMC Transport Department with teaming up with the Police Department and the relevant agencies to check the criteria and regulations on passenger and goods transport among transport operators to ensure safe adaptation to Covid in the city.

Further, the vice chairman asked the HCMC Health Department to join hands with the competent forces to check compliance with Covid safety protocols at public transport hubs such as airports, coach and train stations. The health department was also told to monitor the use of Covid vaccine passports and stay alert over the Delta Plus variant (AY.4.2).
