HCMC – HCMC will launch a pilot program in the first quarter of this year, using 200 electric golf carts for passenger transport in some districts.
The trial phase, covering districts 1, 4, 5, and 6, will run until the end of next year. A designated parking area for electric golf carts will be established at September 23 Park, with daily operational hours from 6 a.m. to midnight.
These four-wheel vehicles capable of accommodating five to 14 passengers will be operated by individuals with a B2-level driver’s license. These drivers will also undergo professional training overseen by the Ministry of Transport.
Under the proposal, electric golf carts will be available on some routes of districts 1 and 4 including Nha Rong Wharf-Khanh Hoi Bridge-Ton Duc Thang-Nguyen Binh Khiem-Nguyen Thi Minh Khai-Hoang Sa-Hai Ba Trung-Nguyen Thi Minh Khai-Nguyen Van Cu-Vo Van Kiet-Calmette Bridge-Doan Van Bo-Hoang Dieu-Nguyen Tat Thanh-Nha Rong Wharf.
In districts 5 and 6, electric golf cart services will be offered on the routes of Nguyen Van Cu-Nguyen Trai-Nguyen Tri Phuong-Hung Vuong-Hong Bang-Nguyen Thi Nho-Le Quang Sung-Pham Dinh Ho-Thap Muoi-Hai Thuong Lan Ong-Vo Van Kiet-Nguyen Van Cu.
The investor, Saigon Public Transport Co., Ltd., has proposed ticket prices ranging from VND10,000 to VND50,000 per passenger, with vehicle rentals costing between VND70,000 and VND250,000 per trip.
