HCMC universities resume normal schooling after Covid-19 community spread put under control

Must read

HCMC – Since HCMC has not reported any fresh Covid-19 case via community transmission for over two weeks, over 100,000 university students in the city have returned to school after being asked to stay home to prevent the spread of the disease.

Specifically, the HCMC University of Science has allowed the students of the 2017 and 2018 cohorts to switch from online to face-to-face learning programs for theory classes. Lecturers and students have to discuss with each other and seek approval from the school management board if they want to continue online teaching and learning. The operation of practice classes will take place as normal.

Students of the 2019 and 2020 cohorts started taking their midterm tests from today, December 21, to December 26. From December 28 onward, theory classes will resume face-to-face operations, and during this time, students have to stay updated on the school’s latest information as well as anti-pandemic preventive measures.

Besides this, more than 20,000 students of the University of Finance and Marketing returned to school today. Lecturers can organize make-up classes to ensure their plans for teaching and exams would be conducted as scheduled. Measures to fight against the coronavirus remain in place to make sure that no risk of transmission would occur when the school resumes normal schooling. Lecturers and students must wear face masks once they enter the school.

Similarly, students of Nguyen Tat Thanh University were allowed to resume school starting today and were asked to wear masks while going to school.

Earlier, students of many other universities in the city had returned to school from December 7 after a short Covid-19-triggered break, including the HCMC University of Technology, the Van Hien University and the Ton Duc Thang University.
