HCMC – More than 31 million tourists came to HCMC from January to September this year, with total tourism revenue amounting to around VND140 trillion, according to the HCMC Department of Tourism.
During the nine-month period, the city served about four million international visitors, a 12.4% increase against the same period last year, and about 27.3 million domestic tourists, a year-on-year rise of 1.3%.
In September, international and domestic tourist arrivals decreased. International visitors totaled 570,203, a decline of 22.4% versus September 2023, while domestic tourists numbered 3.9 million, down by 21.7%.
September tourism revenue was estimated at VND17 trillion, a drop of 5.1%. For the first nine months of 2024, total tourism revenue exceeded VND140 trillion, an 11.9% increase over the year-ago period.
The HCMC Department of Tourism reported that over the past nine months, the city has diversified its tourism offerings, introduced new destinations, and collaborated with businesses to enhance service quality, aiming to attract more visitors.
For the entire year of 2024, HCMC aims to welcome around six million international visitors and 38 million domestic tourists, with projected total tourism revenue reaching VND190 trillion.
