HCMC – The Health Ministry reported 31 new Covid-19 cases by community transmission this evening, February 11, with one case in Hanoi, two in Quang Ninh, 27 in Hai Duong, and one in Gia Lai, bringing the nation’s tally to 2,140 up to now.

Among the new patients, the case in Hanoi is a two-month-old boy in Me Linh District. He is a child of the 1,725th patient and was quarantined on January 31. He tested positive for Covid-19 after developing symptoms of fever and coughing on February 10. The baby is under treatment at the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases in Hanoi.

The two cases in the northern province of Quang Ninh, including a 34-year-old man and a 31-year-old woman in Dong Trieu Town, were linked to the 2,052nd patient. They are being treated at the Vietnam-Sweden Uong Bi General Hospital in the province.

Regarding the 27 cases in Hai Duong Province, which is the country’s biggest coronavirus hotspot, they had close contact with confirmed coronavirus cases and had been put in quarantine previously, thus posing no risk of community transmission.

The remaining case in the Central Highlands province of Gia Lai is a local man of Ayun Pa Town, aged 32.

Also, 51 coronavirus patients have fully recovered and were discharged from hospital today, the final day of the lunar year, raising the country’s recoveries to 1,531 cases, said the ministry’s national steering committee for Covid-19 infection prevention and control.

Up to now, the total number of locally-transmitted cases in the country has reached 1,246, with 553 being recorded since January 27. Fatalities remained at 35.
