Health Ministry confirms 75 new domestic Covid-19 cases

HCMC – The day’s total number of Covid-19 cases reached 236, with 25 imported cases and 75 domestic ones reported this evening, June 7, according to the Ministry of Health.

The 25 imported cases were confirmed in HCMC, Tay Ninh, Tien Giang and Hanoi,  while among the latest locally-infected Covid-19 cases, 30 infections were reported in Bac Giang and 23 others were detected in Bac Ninh. HCMC saw 20 domestic cases and Binh Duong and K Hospital’s Tan Trieu Campus detected one case each.

Since April 27, Vietnam has confirmed 5,832 locally-infected Covid-19 cases, with Bac Giang Province reporting the largest number at 3,211, followed by Bac Ninh with 1,122 cases.

In related news, Nanogen’s Nano Covax vaccine is set to start the third phase of the clinical trial this week, the Vietnam Military Medical Academy said today.

The volunteers will be injected with a dosage of 25 micrograms each and receive the vaccine with placebos in the third phase.

As of this evening, over 6,000 people had registered to participate in the third phase of the Covid-19 vaccine clinical trial, which will be carried out in many healthcare centers in Vietnam, with the participation of some 13,000 volunteers.

In another development, the management board of industrial parks in Bac Giang Province has allowed 42 firms, with some 7,600 employees, to resume their production operations.

These firms are located in four industrial parks, including Van Trung, Quang Chau, Dinh Tram and Song Khe-Noi Hoang, the local media reported.

The management board said that after the resumption, these firms had strictly adopted Covid-19 safety protocols, established dining rooms and accommodations for workers and maintained a safe physical distance.
