Health Ministry reports nearly 5,600 new Covid cases

HCMC – The Ministry of Health today, November 1, confirmed 5,598 fresh Covid-19 cases, along with 1,731 new recoveries and 52 deaths.

Among the new infections, three were imported and 5,595 were domestic infections, detected in 49 cities and provinces, up 91 cases day-on-day.

HCMC took the lead in the case number, at 927, followed by Binh Duong with 682, Dong Nai with 657, Kien Giang with 469 and Bac Lieu with 382.

In addition, 215 cases were reported in An Giang, 194 in Soc Trang, 167 in Binh Thuan, 164 in Daklak, 163 in Tien Giang, 157 in Tay Ninh, 149 in Can Tho, 109 in Ba Ria-Vung Tau and 100 in Long An.

Other localities had fewer than 100 cases each.

The new cases have sent the country’s Covid-19 count in the fourth wave to 921,881, including 819,248 recoveries.

Among the 52 Covid-19 deaths, 25 cases were in HCMC, 11 in Binh Duong, four in Hoa Binh, three in Bac Lieu, two each in Dong Nai and Can Tho, and one each in Ca Mau, Dong Thap, Ninh Thuan, Soc Trang and Tay Ninh.

The HCMC Department of Information and Communications on October 31 announced that the city was at moderate risk of the Covid-19 transmission.

Thu Duc City and nine districts — 1, 7, 8, 10, Tan Phu, Tan Binh, Go Vap, Can Gio and Cu Chi — were at low risk of Covid-19 community spread.

Twelve other districts — 3, 4, 5, 6, 11, 12, Phu Nhuan, Binh Thanh, Binh Tan, Hoc Mon, Nha Be and Binh Chanh — were at moderate risk.

Compared with the previous week, the Covid-19 transmission risk level in Binh Tan District has been downgraded from high to moderate and that in Tan Phu District has been downgraded from moderate to low.

Meanwhile, the pandemic transmission risk level in Bac Lieu in the Mekong Delta has been upgraded to extremely high from high as 20 wards in the province were at extremely high risk and eight others at high risk.

Provincial chairman Pham Van Thieu asked frontline forces to make more efforts fighting off the pandemic and coordinate closely with a special team sent by the Cho Ray Hospital in HCMC.

Bac Lieu recorded an additional 1,200 new Covid-19 cases from October 29 to November 1. The vaccination rate in the province remains low with nearly 424,699 people having received one dose and 105,200 people having got two doses, or 63.27% and 15.68% of its population, respectively.

Thieu said the pandemic had been raging in the province. After the province eased social distancing on October 1, some 26,000 people have returned to Bac Lieu from HCMC and other southeastern provinces.
