Heavy rain forecast in southern Vietnam

HCMC – Southern provinces are experiencing heavy rain, according to Le Dinh Quyet, deputy head of the Southern Regional Hydrometeorological Center.

He said on July 2 that rain will continue for at least two more days before tapering down, the local media reported. There will be another rainy period from July 5 to 6, added Quyet.

Over the past 24 hours, there have been heavy rains in many parts of the Mekong Delta. Giong Rieng District in Kien Giang Province have had rainfall of 87 millimeters, while My Tu District in Soc Trang Province has been hit with rainfall of 98 millimeters.

Heavy rain has also poured in the southeastern provinces of Dong Nai and Binh Duong, reaching 50 millimeters.

In HCMC, Thu Duc City had reported the largest rainfall, with 61 millimeters. The downpours have also occurred in districts 1, 3, 10, and 11, with rainfalls ranging from 40 to 60 millimeters.
