HCMC – Heavy rains combined with flood tides have caused severe flooding across several districts of HCMC, disrupting traffic and impacting daily life.

Rising waters from the Saigon River, exacerbated by rain and flood tides, flooded riverbanks starting from 4:30 p.m. on October 17. The Thanh Da area of Binh Thanh District was particularly affected.

Other low-lying areas in districts 7, 8, and Binh Chanh were also hard hit, with roads like Tran Xuan Soan and Huynh Tan Phat in District 7 submerged.

The flooding stalled numerous vehicles, and residents were forced to take measures to prevent their homes from being inundated, according to local media reports.

The Southern Regional Hydro-Meteorological Center has issued warnings of even higher tides in the coming days, increasing the likelihood of further flooding in the city.
