Hotels in Danang support guests stranded due to coronavirus outbreak

DANANG – The Danang Tourism Department has called on hotels around the central city to offer promotional room rates to support tourists stranded in the city, travel companies and backpacker tourists who cannot leave Danang today, July 28.

By this noon, more than 10 hotels with a combined 500 rooms had registered with the department, offering rates ranging from VND200,000 to VND500,000. Some hotels are only charging for the tourists’ electricity consumption during their stay. The hotels are mainly located near Danang beach in Son Tra and Ngu Hanh Son districts.

According to Cao Tri Dung, chairman of the Danang Tourism Association, by this morning, there were some 2,000-3,000 tourists stranded in the city and, as such, it was necessary to call for the support of hotels during this time.

Reportedly, more and more hotels are registering with the Danang Tourism Department.

Danang City Vice Chairman Le Trung Chinh yesterday afternoon signed a document over social distancing in the city from 12 a.m., July 28, wherein each person is required to stay at home and can go out only if necessary such as to buy food and medicines or to go to work. People must also strictly maintain a minimum distance of two meters while communicating and not more than two people can gather outdoors.

Yesterday, the Ministry of Transport issued an official document stopping all passenger flights to and from Danang from 12 a.m. on July 28, excluding flights taking guests out of Danang. The inter-provincial and intra-provincial transport of cars, railways and waterways in Danang has also been halted.

The Ministry of Health reported 11 new community-transmitted Covid-19 cases in the central city of Danang on July 27, taking the country’s tally to 431.
