HCMC – HCMC Urban Railway Company No.1, in charge of operating the city’s first metro line between the landmark Ben Thanh Market in District 1 and Suoi Tien Park in District 9, has announced plans to recruit 58 train drivers for the metro line No. 1.
The first metro line project, which is 71.13% complete, is set to be put into operation in 2021.
The priority for recruitment is individuals who have completed a term of service in the military.
The candidates must be high school graduates with qualifications and professional skills related to train driving, signal and railway systems and electronics and mechanics, among other things.
Candidates who can speak English or Japanese will be at an advantage.
Job applications can be submitted from April 6 to 29.
Successful candidates, who must be 21-35 years old, will be offered a 19-month training course, Thanh Nien newspaper reported.
The city’s first metro line will be operated on a trial basis this year, a representative of the Management Authority for Urban Railways of HCMC stated, adding that the authority is considering a suitable solution for a test run to ensure safety and evaluate the operation.
