HCMC – The Consulate General of India in HCMC held a cultural festival called “Namaste Vietnam Festival 2022” in HCMC on August 13 to boost the cultural exchange between Vietnam and India.
The festival, which was also launched in Khanh Hoa Province at the same time, will wrap up on August 21, the local media reported.
Apart from the cultural exchange, the festival is aimed at stepping up cooperation in trade, investment, education, information technology, tourism and healthcare between the two countries.
Addressing the opening ceremony in HCMC, Indian Ambassador to Vietnam Pranay Verma said the festival was scheduled for the beginning of this year to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the two countries’ diplomatic ties, from January 1, 1972 to 2022, but had to postpone due to Covid-19.
The festival plays a high role in enhancing connectivity and cultural exchange, and fostering trade and investment between the two nations, said the Indian ambassador.
Director of the municipal Department of External Affairs Tran Phuoc Anh highly valued the event, believing that the festival would contribute to taking the bilateral ties to a new height.
