HCMC – Lao Deputy Prime Minister Saleumxay Kommasith has proposed establishing a Laos-Vietnam industrial park venture, inspired by the successful Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Park (VSIP) model.
At a meeting with Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on December 30, Kommasith urged Vietnam to share its expertise in developing industrial parks and leveraging national strengths for economic growth.
He highlighted Laos’ plans to enhance its investment environment to attract foreign businesses, particularly in infrastructure, transportation, and energy. Kommasith also pledged to improve conditions for Vietnamese enterprises operating in Laos.
Prime Minister Chinh welcomed the proposal and affirmed Vietnam’s willingness to collaborate on the project and share its experience. He also emphasized the importance of advancing key joint initiatives and enhancing bilateral cooperation.
The leaders reviewed the progress of their partnership and agreed to prepare for the 47th Intergovernmental Committee meeting. Discussions will center on expanding economic, trade, and investment ties in 2025.
