Large-scale downpours wreak havoc on properties, leave one dead in Cao Bang

HCMC – Properties, plants and traffic infrastructure have been damaged while one local man was killed due to heavy rain in recent days in the northern mountainous province of Cao Bang.

The province experienced heavy rain between June 10 and 12, with rainfalls exceeding 106mm at major stations such as Son Lo in Bao Lac District and Dam Thuy in Trung Khanh District, or 230 mm at Kim Loan station in Ha Lang District.

The downpours resulted in inundation and landslides, leaving negative impact on many local households in Cao Bang City, the districts of Hoa An, Ha Lang, Bao Lac, and others.

The bad weather condition claimed the life of a 50-year-old local man in Ha Lang District, who was swept away by floodwaters. The local authorities then visited and provided VND10-million support to the victim’s family.

Besides, one house was flooded, 10 others suffered landslides and got their home appliances damaged.

The floodwaters also submerged 11.5 hectares of corn, 20.7 hectares of paddy, sweeping away five cattle.

On National Highway 34, landslides caused disruption to traffic.

The local competent forces have adopted measures to cope with the aftermath of the extreme weather.
