HCMC – The Lawrence S. Ting Foundation (LSTF) and Phu My Hung Development Corporation have awarded over VND8 billion in scholarships to local students and charitable organizations nationwide.
Around 190 scholarships totaling over VND2.2 billion were awarded to students who excel in school, come from disadvantaged backgrounds, and are active in their social activities. Each scholarship given to college students is worth VND14 million each year, whereas it is VND6.3 million annually for highschool students.
In addition, Phu My Hung provided more than VND5.7 billion through the LSTF to funds and charitable organizations across the country, including the Vietnamese Children’s Fund, Vu A Dinh Scholarship Fund, and the Vietnam Association for Promoting Education. These organizations, on behalf of the LSTF and Phu My Hung, will grant scholarships to local students.
The Lawrence S. Ting Scholarship is aimed at advancing education and helping children in need in Vietnam.
“Lawrence S. Ting, late chairman of Phu My Hung Asia Holdings and Phu My Hung, always paid special attention to fundamental support such as education and training,” said Phan Chanh Duong, director of the Lawrence S. Ting Foundation. Ting believed that youth and knowledge are the driving forces behind Vietnam’s development, added Duong.
Through various programs on education, health, and social charity, the foundation has contributed more than VND533 billion to the community after 18 years of operation.
