HCMC – Long An Province aims to transform Can Giuoc District into a class-3 urban area by 2030, closely connected to Long An International Port.
The provincial government announced on October 2 that the general planning for Can Giuoc urban area will be implemented until 2045, covering over 21,510 hectares, including 14 communes and one town of Can Giuoc.
Bordering Binh Chanh, Nha Be, and Can Gio districts in HCMC, and adjacent to Ben Luc and Can Duoc districts in Long An Province, Can Giuoc is positioned to drive economic development in Long An’s southeastern region.
The overall plan envisions Can Giuoc as a key urban area linked to Long An International Port, playing a significant role in supporting the southern key economic region and easing population pressure in HCMC.
Can Giuoc will also serve as a connecting hub within the provincial urban system and its neighboring areas, including the urban zones of Binh Chanh, Nha Be, Can Gio in HCMC, and Ben Luc and Can Duoc in Long An Province.
