HCMC – Construction work on Long Thanh International Airport in the southern province of Dong Nai is advancing faster than expected, said the Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV).
Key structural work for the third component of phase one is set for completion by late 2025, with trial operations slated for August 2026, reported the Government news site (baochinhphu.vn).
The construction of steel framing, brick walls, and roof supports has made rapid progress, and terminal equipment is currently in production.
Approximately 30% of the project’s total contract value has been completed. This month, contractors are focusing on roof finishing and glass wall installation.
Runway, taxiway, and apron construction have also accelerated, with technical operations expected to begin on April 30, 2025, three months ahead of original schedule.
Supporting infrastructure is on track to complete by late 2025. Route 1 is expected to be finished by November, while the Bien Hoa-Vung Tau and HCMC-Long Thanh-Dau Giay expressway interchanges are projected to wrap up in August and October, respectively.
Other areas, including the passenger terminal’s aircraft apron, have progressed to contracting and initial construction stages. Cargo Terminal 1 and additional facilities are finalizing technical designs before contractor selection. The airport’s instrument landing system (ILS/DME) equipment has arrived and is scheduled for installation in December.
