HCMC – Many international cruise lines are set to carry passengers to Vietnam during the peak travel season in late 2022, according to several major cruise tourism companies.

Nguyen Huu Y Yen, general director of Saigontourist Travel, said the firm would start receiving international tourists from cruise ships from early December. As scheduled, three ships of the Royal Caribbean Cruise Line will enter the country each month.

These ships, mainly transporting American and European travelers, will arrive in HCMC, Danang and Halong from December until the end of 2024.

“The number of cruise ships to Vietnam will be lower than before the Covid pandemic, but we are working with other cruise lines to bring more foreign tourists to the country,” he said.

Viet Excursions Company, active in the cruise ship segment, has received positive feedback from several international cruise lines for the travel season at the end of this year and in early 2023, said Phan Xuan Anh, chairman of the company.

From November onward, the firm will receive some 20 cruise ships arriving at the Phu My, Saigon, Nha Trang, Chan May and Quang Ninh ports from Europe and the United States each month. Saigon Port in HCMC will receive the highest number of cruise ships, followed by the Chan May port in Thua Thien Hue Province.

“The number of cruise ships will be equal to that seen during the pre-pandemic period,” Anh said.
