HCMC – Many airports in the central part of Vietnam have resumed operations after Super Typhoon Noru, which made landfall in the central region early today morning, weakened into a tropical depression.
The national aviation authority decided to reopen nine out of 10 airports that had been closed yesterday due to the storm.
These airports have taken measures since early this morning to handle the aftermath of the typhoon to restart flights after hundreds of them were canceled yesterday due to Noru.
No casualties caused by the storm have been reported up to now.
The Tuy Hoa airport in Phu Yen Province reopened at 8 a.m. today, September 28, while the Chu Lai, Phu Cat, Buon Ma Thuot, Vinh and Lien Khuong airports resumed operations at 12 p.m. in the day.
Meanwhile, the Danang International Airport, where the typhoon struck last night, and the Phu Bai airport in Thua Thien-Hue Province reopened at 2 p.m. today.
The Pleiku airport in Gia Lai Province experienced heavy rains and strong winds brought on by the storm and was scheduled to reopen at 5 p.m. in the day. A cleanup after the storm is underway at the Dong Hoi airport in Quang Binh.
As shared by Hoang Huu Chuong, deputy director of the Danang International Airport, 104 flights to and from Danang had been canceled due to the storm. However, as the airport was well prepared for the storm, the aftermath of the storm at the airport was not serious, reported Tuoi Tre Online.
