HCMC – The total number of newly registered businesses and those resuming operations rose by 25% to over 183,000 in the first nine months of this year, according to the General Statistics Office (GSO).
Nearly 121,900 enterprises were established during this period, with combined capital of over VND1,158.5 trillion, a 3.4% increase in both the number of enterprises and registered capital compared to last year. The average registered capital of a new business remained steady at VND9.5 billion.
However, the total added capital injected into the economy, which includes supplementary capital from existing businesses, fell by 6.1% year-on-year to VND2,310.5 trillion.
More than 61,100 enterprises resumed operations, bringing the total number of new market entrants and re-entrants to over 183,000, up by 9.7% versus last year. On average, over 20,300 businesses either entered or returned to the market each month.
In September alone, 4,233 enterprises temporarily suspended business, 7,410 ceased operations, and 1,605 completed dissolution procedures, reflecting respective increases of 2.6%, 40.5%, and 26.8% compared to the same period in 2023.
